Final Destination Bloodlines

College student Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) has recurring nightmares involving her grandmother Iris (Brec Bassinger as a young lady, Gabrielle Rose as a senior citizen) and a near-fatal incident that took place at the Sky View observation tower back in the 1960's (which is modeled after the Space Needle in Seattle), so she takes a leave of absence from school to talk to Iris and her parents, only to learn that there's a "curse" on them.  This is the sixth installment of the Final Destination franchise (I saw the original back in 2000 and declined to bother with the others) and it appears to be the best reviewed (and financially successful) out of them: the "formula" seems to be to introduce ordinary characters and have the audience wait and see what freak accident is going to end their lives ... which unfortunately places the viewer(s) in the position of "siding" with the (unseen) Grim Reaper and "admiring" the creative ways Death can come up with to dispatch them (I typically prefer it when there's a visible monster).  So-called horror fans have been raving about it online, but they seem to be overlooking the downright shoddy special effects which kind of negate any "scariness" ... so all it amounts to is an exercise in "gleeful nihilism."  If cheap thrills are what you're craving, have at it....
